Your Sage Cloud Hosting Questions Answered
Find answers to the most common inquiries about our Sage Cloud Hosting and IT services for the construction industry.
Where are the servers hosted?
Your data lives in Tier IV fault-tolerant datacenters that are geographically dispersed across the United States. These facilities represent the highest standard of reliability globally, ensuring your infrastructure is housed in a professional, enterprise-grade environment rather than an office closet. Your data resides in the United States.
Note: For our Canadian clients, we host your data from a datacenter based in Canada as required by Canadian data privacy laws.
How do we connect to Sage when it is hosted in the cloud?
We make Sage accessible from anywhere, on any device. You can connect via a desktop application that replaces your current Sage icon or through our new browser-based offering, which allows you to run Sage 300CRE or Sage 100 Contractor directly in a web browser without needing a VPN or Citrix.
What is a Tier IV Data Center and why does it matter for my business?
A Tier IV datacenter is the highest global standard for reliability, engineered to be fully fault-tolerant. For your business, this means that every critical component—including power, cooling, and internet connectivity—is doubled and backed up.
This matters because it provides 99.99% uptime, limiting potential downtime to less than 52 minutes per year, whereas on-premise servers are often vulnerable to single points of failure like power outages or hardware meltdowns. Beyond just staying online, Tier IV facilities offer enterprise-grade security, featuring 24/7/365 armed guards, biometric identity verification, and “mantrap” entry systems to ensure your data is physically and digitally hardened against any threat.
Essentially, it transforms your IT from a liability into a high-performance highway that keeps your data safe and secure.
What happens if the internet goes out at my office?
Because your Sage environment is in the cloud, your business isn’t tied to your physical office. If your office internet fails, your team can work from home, a job trailer, or a mobile hotspot.
Will my Apple devices work with Sage? What about Ipads?
Yes, your Apple devices will work seamlessly with your Sage environment. One of the primary advantages of our cloud hosting is that it removes the traditional hardware limitations that typically prevent Sage from running on non-Windows machines.
How do you keep my data safe?
We employ a “Layers of Protection” approach. This includes:
- Physical Security: 24/7/365 armed guards, biometric identity verification, and mantrap entries.
- Digital Security: Hardware and software firewalls with “Stateful” high availability, intrusion detection/prevention, and constant vulnerability scans.
- Active Defense: Auto-ban engines that block attackers after failed login attempts and GEOIP filtering.
- and more…
Do you offer Multi-Factor Authentication?
Yes. We offer Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and dual authentication protocols to ensure that only authorized users can access your dedicated server environment.
Are we still responsible for backups? And how does that work?
We handle the backup management and retention for you. We provide multiple backups, both onsite and offsite, to ensure the best protection against ransomware and “zero-day” attacks. This removes the risk of relying on local drives that are vulnerable to fire, flood, or theft.
Are the facilities compliant with the standards of my industry?
Absolutely. Our datacenters are SOC 1/2/3, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI compliant. We have you covered for all of your compliance needs.
What is included in the Sage hosting service?
We provide a full white-glove service. This includes:
- Maintenance and management of the Sage server.
- Network/data security and patching.
- Backup management and retention.
- Unlimited support via phone or email from U.S.-based technicians.
How is your support different from a generic provider like Azure or AWS?
Generic providers don’t understand Sage. If an integration breaks, they often say, “That’s not our problem”. At myCREcloud, Sage is all we do. We act as your first line of defense; if you have a problem, you call us, and we help you resolve it.
Will Sage run slower in the cloud than on my local server?
No. We optimize every environment specifically for Sage workloads, not “one size fits all” hosting. By using high-performance server infrastructure and blended internet carriers, we often see a performance increase over aging on-premise hardware.
How do we add or remove a user?
As your team grows, your environment scales with you. Simply contact our support team, and we can provision new user profiles, permissions, and security protocols as needed.
How long does it take to migrate, and will my team be down?
The process is designed to be seamless across three phases:
- Setup (1-2 days): We build your environment in the background with zero impact on your current work.
- Migration: We move your data, usually after hours or over a weekend to avoid downtime. Including 3rd party applications and data as needed.
- Prep, test, and ensure Sage is ready for business
Why is this better than just buying a server every 5 years?
On-premise servers are business risks. By year 5, performance slows and hardware failure becomes a “when,” not an “if”. Moving to myCREcloud eliminates the unpredictable costs of server refreshes, UPS systems, and emergency IT fixes, replacing them with a reliable, secure, and modern highway for your business.
What is the data ownership policy?
From our perspective, your data is the most important aspect of your business. While we manage the infrastructure, your data always belongs to you.
